DAY 1:

WELCOME TO CUSCO! TRANSFER TO SACRED VALLEY; INTRODUCTORY MEETING

Our journey begins in Cusco, where we will be met at the airport and transferred directly to the Sacred Valley. On the way, we will gather for our Welcome Lunch featuring traditional Peruvian cuisine. By coming down in altitude and starting your journey in the Sacred Valley, we will feel refreshed, energized, and ready for the days ahead. Once settled into your beautiful hotel, you will have an introductory meeting to go over all the exciting activities we have planned for your journey. We will also enjoy a short Welcome Ceremony involving a clearing of the personal energy field and reconnecting with the Andean spirits.

Overnight at Aranwa Sacred Valley
Meals: Lunch

DAY 2:

ANDEAN COSMOVISION AND TRADITIONAL ANDEAN HEALING ARTS

Today, feeling refreshed after a relaxing night at our hotel, we continue our energy work with ceremonies and healing rituals. Our team will discuss Andean Cosmovision and traditional Andean Healing Arts, guiding us through rituals of welcoming and reconnecting with the ancestral spirits of the Andes.

This full day of energy work will allow us to feel fully immersed in ancestral traditions and deepen our connection to our inner self as well as the land we are visiting. We will also learn about the concepts of Nogan Kani and Ayni, the latter being a fundamental aspect of Andean Cosmovision that allows us to better understand the unique reciprocal relationship the Andean peoples have with the earth. By understanding that love is always a reciprocal relationship (love for people, nature, the planet), we can reassess our relationships and how we treat ourselves and the world around us.

Overnight at Aranwa Sacred Valley
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

DAY 3-AUG 22Nd:

CHINCHERO AND MORAY

Today we visit the hometown of the rainbow – Chinchero, a small village located high up in the windswept plains, offering spectacular views over the Sacred Valley and the snow capped peaks of the Andes. Renowned for its beautiful traditional weavings, this town is the perfect place to pick up souvenirs and gifts. Here, we immerse ourselves in the local community, meeting village elders and the friendly local inhabitants. We will also work on an offering to Pachamama, when we will share gifts and healing practices that will have a lasting impact on your everyday lives back home.

After lunch in Chinchero, our bus will take us for a visit to the captivating Incan site of Moray, six hundred meters above Urubamba. This ancient site contains unusual Inca ruins, large circular terraces, and a sunken Amphitheater. The circular terraces were used for agriculture and were created as a type of open greenhouse consisting of tropical microclimates. As Moray was also considered the womb of Mother Earth, it was thought to be the best place to initiate healers. Here, we will experience another connection with the sacred feminine energy for healing our physical bodies and our emotional temples.

Overnight at Aranwa Sacred Valley
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

DAY 4 – AUG. 23Rd:

SACRED VALLEY TO MACHU PICCHU

After breakfast, we’ll travel to Ollantaytambo, known as the «Sanctuary of the Wind,» an ancient observatory and ceremonial center nestled among impressive hillside terraces. We’ll visit the Temple of the Sun, as well as the Royal Baths and Fountains, where we will have a shamanic energy experience, connecting with the elements of earth, water, air, and fire. Following the flowing river, we’ll make our way to the Temple of the Condor for moments of reflection and silent meditation.

In the afternoon, after lunch, we’ll head to Ollantaytambo train station to embark on a scenic train journey along the Urubamba River to the charming village of Aguas Calientes, or Machu Picchu Pueblo. Once we check in to our hotel, you can enjoy a relaxed evening to prepare for tomorrow’s sacred visit to Machu Picchu.

Overnight at Sumaq Machu Picchu
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

DAY 5 – AUG.24Th:

MACHU PICCHU!

After breakfast, we make our way by bus to the sanctuary of Machu Picchu for our spiritual awakening. This Cristal Condor sacred site is an inspiring and beautiful place, an architectural wonder, and a great testament to the Incan Civilization. Once used primarily as an astronomical Observatory and place of pilgrimage, Machu Picchu now attracts thousands of visitors each year to connect with the sacred energies and ancient wisdom. Because it sits within three corresponding high peaks of power, which create an energy triangle, it is a perfect spot to sit and meditate, focus your intent, and expand your awareness.

In the afternoon, we go to the Aguas Calientes train station and enjoy a scenic train ride along the Urubamba River to the hotel in Sacred Valley.

Overnight at Aranwa Sacred Valley
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Continue to Cusco in the afternoon.

DAY 6 – AUG.25Th:

QUILLARUMIYOQ & WACHUMA

After breakfast, we will travel from Sacred Valley and cross the broad Anta Valley. In this quintessential agricultural region, we see small villages of adobe houses with thatched or red-tiled roofs, fields of grain, and herds of cattle. Leaving the main road, we will visit the Incan archaeological site of Quillarumiyoc, also known as the Temple of the Moon. This religious center contains walls, buildings, fountains, and its centerpiece, the Moonstone, a limestone boulder with a bas-relief of the moon found only here. At Quillarumiyoc, several ancient Inca trails are in excellent walking condition. We will explore the Quillarumiyoc caves, where the Incas carved and captured their representative knowledge of the ancestral spiritual ideology. Continuing the visit, we will explore the temple of the Quillarumiyoc water priest, featuring polygonal imperial Inca architecture and a mini-waterfall where we will cleanse, purify, and free the mind, putting it in a state of relaxation. The Quillarumiyoc Moon Temple is shaped like a crescent, containing the staggering sign of three levels representing the Inca trilogy. It is oriented towards the dawn to observe the solar projections, functioning as an astronomical and spiritual calendar by emanating feminine energy.

Today, we also have our first optional opportunity to work with San Pedro (Wachuma). San Pedro is a powerful and sacred – yet gentle – “teacher and healer” plant traditionally used to heal the heart in times of extreme pain and emotional hurt. It is important to work with this medicine as part of a sacred ceremony and with the protection of the ancestral spirits.

Continue to Sacred Valley in the afternoon.

DAY 7 – AUG.26Th:

EXPLORE CUSCO

After breakfast, we begin with a visit to Sacsayhuamán, where we will marvel at this architectural wonder and learn about the mystery and legends of how this stone-walled complex was constructed. Next, we will guide you through a rebirth process in a nearby cave of the Cosmic Mother, also known as the Womb of Mother Earth. We then continue to Tambomachay, a favorite resting place of the Incas, commonly referred to as the «Baños del Inca» or «Baños de la Ñusta» (Baths of the Incas or Baths of the Princess). This site, once used for ritual bathing, is believed to be a temple dedicated to the worship of water. At the Temple of the Condor, we will participate in a private Andean Initiation Ceremony to connect with the ancestral lineages. Connect with the sacred trilogy of the Incas – the Puma, Serpent, and Condor – and learn about what the Incan elders believed regarding parallel dimensions. After visiting other sacred temples around the mountain, we return to the city of Cusco for a city tour and to immerse ourselves in the smiles and laughter of the local people. Later, we visit Coricancha, one of the most revered temples, dedicated to the Sun God, whose walls and floors were once covered in sheets of solid gold. Wander the courtyard, which was once filled with golden statues.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When is the best time to travel to Cusco?

Cusco is a destination you can visit year-round. During the dry season, which lasts from May to October, it is recommended to hike and explore the mountains, such as Rainbow Mountain, Humantay Lake or Inca Trail. During the rainy season, from November to April, it is advisable to be prepared for occasional rain. If you would like to enjoy good weather and travel at a more relaxed pace with fewer crowds, we recommend visiting during the shoulder seasons, from April to May and September to November.

How can I reduce the risk of altitude sickness?

Before traveling to high altitudes, we highly recommend visiting your family doctor to ensure your body is ready for the journey. To ease the acclimatization process, we suggest going to the Sacred Valley upon your arrival in Cusco and spending some time there. The Sacred Valley is at a lower altitude than Cusco, which will help your body adjust more smoothly. Another option is to stay in Cusco and allow yourself a few extra days to acclimate before the start of your program. Drink plenty of water, have coca tea in the morning, avoid alcohol, and eat light meals. Before taking any medication, consult your doctor.

How far in advance do I need to book a package with Pumadventures?

We recommend booking your experience at least 4 – 6 months in advance. If your trip includes Machu Picchu, the Inca Trail, or other high-demand destinations, you may need to be flexible with dates and entrance tickets if you book less than four months in advance. Permits are very limited per day and sell out extremely quickly from May to September. For busy peak months like June and July, we highly recommend booking even earlier to secure your spot.

How do I know if the package is available?

The best way to find out if this journey is available and right fit for you is to reach out to our amazing travel experts. They’ll guide you through the selection process and answer any questions you may have.

How do I know if I’m ready for the ceremony?

The ceremony and experience are deeply personal. In the Andes, we speak of «the call of the spirit» and «the call of the plant,» meaning that when you are truly ready for the ceremony, you will feel a deep sense of certainty. As our Master Puma says, if it’s not a strong YES, then it’s a NO.

If I have doubts, how can I know if a ceremony with master plants is right for me?

Before your journey, you have the opportunity to connect with our medicine men and women and request a coca leaf reading at www.noqankani.com. Remember, your spirit already knows what it is seeking – you just need to tune in and feel the answer.

Do my guides speak English?

Yes, our guides are mostly from Chinchero and speak good English. All of our guides are trained in the Rainbow Lineage tradition for Mesa (Medicine Bundle) and have years of experience working with sacred plants like San Pedro (Wachuma) and/or Ayahuasca.

Why choose Pumadventures?

Our passion is rooted in ancient Incan teachings, and we continue the legacy of Papa Kay, Don Maximo, by sharing ancient wisdom and medicine in our own unique, inspiring, and heartfelt way through journeys in Peru.
